Description
Strut braces are one of the least expensive ways to add to your suspension/chassis setup. They strengthen the chassis by bolting to the suspension turrets reducing flex. Strut braces in their various forms (top, lower or rear) are a nice addition to any MINI, but especially convertible cars where lack of roof structure can promote extra, and unwanted, chassis twist.
As you enter a turn, the chassis is prone to flexing, giving the driver a lack of precision and feel for the car. A strut brace will sharpen steering response, making your MINI feel more ‘direct’. This will certainly improve the general performance of the car throughout turns, where the increased rigidity will allow you to predict how the vehicle will behave through cornering. In turn, there are no ‘negative effects’ from adding a strut brace (i.e. harshness or bumpiness). They can help reduce rattles and creaks throughout your car, and are a stylish addition to any engine bay.
